It’s do or die for Carla, Hosea, and Stefan, and now all they have to do is complete one very simple challenge: cook the best meal of their lives at renowned and historic New Orleans restaurant Commander’s Palace on tonight’s concluding episode of Top Chef.
With Carla’s having gained serious momentum in the last couple of challenges, [...]
Krispy Kreme Valentine’s Donut Sets Record

I guess it’s a sign of the (depressed) times that Krispy Kreme set a new record for sales of its heart-shaped Valentine’s donut this year at 400,000 during V-week alone.
I somehow wouldn’t consider a donut a fitting V-Day treat, so I hope they were just used for work-related events or as personal novelty items.
Anyway, Krispy [...]
Locating Those Hard-to-Find Wines

I’m always excited when I see a list of wines that not only taste good but also are affordable, but it’s usually the case that the particular wines being reviewed are nowhere to be found. That’s one reason I spent yesterday afternoon at the Wine Exchange in Orange, Calif., tasting "The Wines of Iberia." Now, [...]

I’m always excited when new food competition shows come around. This year, Chopped debuted on the Food Network, and now NBC is responding with The Chopping Block in prime time (debuts March 11 at 8 p.m.).

I’m beginning to sound like a shill for Bravo TV, but the economy and my need to work keeps me from getting out and about as much as I used to do to cover restaurants and demos, etc., so I’ll use these Bravo promos from time to time.
Turns out that Top Chef judge Gail Simmons [...]

On the heels of what it says is the best season yet for Top Chef, Bravo TV announced today that it is producing a spinoff called Top Chef Masters, which will pit celebrity chefs, 24 of them, against one another until only one–the Top Chef Master–is left standing. The Master will then get to donate [...]

I guess I need to do more research in advance of visiting restaurants, not that my experience at the Magic Lamp Inn (and steak house) along the old Route 66 in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., was without its charms and pleasures. I did indeed enjoy my Crab and Shrimp Louie.
It’s just that when I got home to [...]
Hell’s Kitchen It Ain’t, Gordon Ramsay (Restaurant) at the London Hotel West Hollywood: A Truly Splendid Experience

To be honest, the first time I caught up with Gordon Ramsay’s show Hell’s Kitchen was just this past Thursday, four seasons after the show commenced. I was, of course, taken aback by Ramsay’s ascerbic comments, but the show was definitely highly entertaining, and I immediately squared off on those I wanted immediately eliminated and [...]

When Eric then hands over his restaurant —NYC’s renowned Le Bernardin— to [...]
