Carl’s Jr. Huevos Rancheros Burrito: Not Artfully Done

I decided to follow up on Carl’s Jr.’s challenge to McDonald’s McSkillet–the Huevos Rancheros Burrito–and I was again reminded why the Yum Brands chain is sucking hind tit to Ray Kroc’s brainchild.
They don’t copy well enough.
First, when I got to the place, it was virtually empty as opposed to the overcrowding at my local McDonald’s for breakfast. Okay, I forgave the place for that. But then I had to wait ten minutes after ordering to get my burrito. What the hell took so long? There weren’t any customers!
Then, strategic mistake: Carl’s decided to fashion an open-top burrito, so you’re forced to start at the open end. Unfortunately, the open part is the only part with the advertised rachero sauce and tortilla strips, and it tasted like crap.
Two inches down into the burrito, I finally reached the eggs and refried beans, and that part tasted pretty good, but I was already pissed off by the initial experience.
Lesson: If you’re going to copy, copy. The burrito should’ve been fully enclosed with the ingredients spread equally throughout.
Still worse, when I went to refill my coffee, the staff had paid so little attention to what was going on that they had to brew a whole new pot, and that took forever. Gasp!
I will not be returning to Carl’s Jr. for breakfast anytime soon.
