Salute to Robert Mondavi
Posted on October 1, 2007
Founder of the Robert Mondavi Winery empire, patriarch [tag]Robert Mondavi[/tag], is now 94, and I assume hail and hearty. Red wine consumption will do that for you.
His sons, Timothy and Michael, argued bitterly during the rise and fall and sale of the family’s Napa Valley vineyard, and now Michael has his own winery, where he hopes for quality, volume and profits. Timothy has joined sister Marcia and father Robert in founding Continuum Winery after the sale of the flagship to Constellation Brands for $1.3 billion.
All this and Robert’s earlier fight at Charles Krug Winery, where he was expelled, are documented in a new book entitled The House of Mondavi. Recommended reading.
