MSN Money Says Go Veggie

Logging out of my Hotmail account today, I was taken to the MSN home page where the featured story was on vegetarianism.

I remember trying to date a woman once whose motto was, "Don’t eat anything that has eyes."

Now, while I agree with the philosophy behind this–don’t kill living creatures–I’m also a firm believer that meat and fish protein probably saved the human race from extinction.

Anyway, I do love my cheeseburgers, though I’ve certainly had some very tasty garden burgers (and I never did get a date with that veggie babe).

MSN says going vegetarian will save you money on two fronts–grocery expenses and health care expenses.

I’d rather just move somewhere where I had to walk everywhere instead of driving, and I’m not even a big meat eater outside of one hamburger a week and scads of irresistible bacon, which appears to be the tastiest protein ever devised.

Emeril is right when he says, "Pork fat rules."

(Interestingly enough, after I wrote this, I turned on Food Network and [tag]Bobby Flay[/tag] was doing his BBQ show on vegetarian dishes, one of the most interesting of which was a farro salad.  And BTW, I had a Greek salad for lunch–no meat!)
