Answer: When it’s served at a new restaurant in Brea, Calif., called [tag]Crepes de Paris[/tag].
I’d always remembered [tag]crepes[/tag] as these wafer-thin little concoctions that were rolled up with delicate goodies inside. However, at Crepes de Paris they are served looking like individual pizzas, thick and piled high with your choice of sweet and savory additions. As I gaze on the menu I took home, I see that the toppings include cheese, bacon, turkey, chicken, spinach, mushroom, ham, and probably anything else they have on hand in the kitchen.
I didn’t order one because of my preconceived notion of what a crepe is. However, as I was sitting and waiting for my bacon and avocado sandwich with side salad to arrive, I saw that everyone else, except for one lady who had ordered a salad, was chowing down on crepes piled high with food stuffs.
As good as my sandwich and salad were, however, I must confess that Crepes de Paris utilizes some false advertising. On the restaurant window is emblazoned the invitation to a "Wine Bar." Alas, there is no wine bar, nor even glasses of wine. I had iced tea, and though they warned me it was "watery," I ordered it anyway. Sure enough, it was the worst iced tea I’ve ever had. How do you screw up iced tea?
