Which Wine for Your Easter Ham?

I did some Web research to see if any wine maven out there had the same idea as I did about which wine to drink with an Easter ham.
Most writers seem to prefer a Riesling or Gewurztraminer. However, I personally would drink one of those wines only on a hot day. I can certainly see their reasoning, and if that’s what you want, go with one of those two. They’re certainly fine wines that I enjoy each year (on hot days–LOL).
Now, my first choice is probably also my first choice for just about anything culinary or romantic. If [tag]Dom Perignon[/tag] felt he had captured the stars when he created champagne, I’d have to say that [tag]Pinot Noir[/tag] captures the taste of heaven itself. That is, if it’s a good one. And a French Burgundy generally reaches even farther into heaven for its taste sensation.
This is not to say that I haven’t sampled a lot of mediocre and even bad Pinot Noirs and Burgundies, but one I can recommend (and I get no commission for doing this) is the [tag]Heron Wines[/tag] version. It’s bottled in California with imported French grapes, so it’s almost a Pinot-Merlot combo, but it is delicious–not as delicate as a fine Burgundy, but absolutely yummy. The price is right too at $11.
Sadly, it’s too late to order it for Easter, but keep it in mind and order it online for future enjoyment.
