Chamorro and Wine
Posted on December 6, 2006
As I live out here in the boondocks, there aren’t many exciting dining places to frequent, let alone watering holes (total: zero). But I found, through the pages of the Los Angeles Times, a wine bar-restaurant in Whittier (Calif.), which is not far from my house and is also revolutionary for appearing so far east of Los Angeles with a somewhat sophisticated approach. Out here in my locale, you can choose from McDonald’s and Denny’s, but Whittier’s Phlight, as the place is called, offers true culinary sophistication. You can get fine wines by the glass in an absorbing setting, and also order tapas and Chamorro-style dishes from Guam. I need to check it out and see what wines they offer and how tasty the food is.
Meanwhile, if you’re a local (poor you) or otherwise interested, you can visit PhlightRestaurant.com. I’ll have a review for you soon. Pity me–when some place in Whittier becomes an option, you’re in trouble.
